Description
Victoria (1837‑1901), Diamond Jubilee, 1897, gold (56mm/94.03gm, 26mm/12.84gm) and silver medals (56mm/84.23gm, 26mm/9.78gm) set of four by G. W. de Saulles after T. Brock and W. Wyon. Veiled bust left, VICTORIA ANNVUM REGNI SEXAGESIMVM FELICITER CLAVDIT XX IVN. MDCCCXCVII. Rev, young head left, on laurel, LONGITVDO DIERVM IN DEXTERAEIVS ET IN SINISTRA GLORIA 1837 (Eimer 1817; BHM 3506). Official Royal Mint issue, all virtually As Struck, large silver medal lightly toned a burnished gold around the legends, the smaller toned with blue, purple, and gold hues, particularly on the obv. With contemporary R. L. Christie, Edinburgh, black leather case and red velvet inlay.
