Tobias de Gromoboy is a trading card specialist who, as an avid player and collector, brings a love of Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon to the Pop Culture department.
Having studied English Literature, film and other forms of Pop Culture at university, Tobias joined Stanley Gibbons Baldwin’s with a deep understanding and appreciation for collecting and collectables research. During his studies, Tobias worked at multiple museums developing a passion for the preservation of rare and delicate items. He has also worked to develop his own Trading Card Game, which has enhanced his appreciation for the workings and desirability of all things TCG.
Notable auctions Tobias has worked on include the hugely successful Pokémon Summer Sale, which sold an ex Delta Species booster box for a world record of £27,000, and the MCM Afterparty: Pokémon Grails which saw a BGS 9 Charizard 1st Edition Shadowless Base Set card sell for over £19,000. With his wide understanding of TCGs, both in collecting and competitive play, Tobias brings valued knowledge to the department.
