George James is Head of Philately at SGB, and his particular specialisms lie in Revenue stamps of the world and British Commonwealth stamps. He joined the company straight after graduating from Hague University in 2013 and has been a professional philatelist ever since.
His expertise has meant that he has had significant involvement in sales including the Joseph Oster Collection of Long Island and Madagascar, the De Jong Collection, the Indica Collection, the Taprobana Collection, the Collection of the Former Singapore Philatelic Museum, the Hay-Morgan Collection and the ‘Sura’ Collection of Thai Occupation of Trengganu.
During his time at the company, George has enjoyed contributing to the Stanley Gibbons YouTube channel, and he has also collaborated with famous YouTuber Tom Scott. George is also an active member of the BPA expert committee, the Revenue Society Committee, the RPSL, Collector’s Club New York and many other study circles.
