The Crown Coin

Auction: 25 September 2025 18:00 BST
Description
The Crown Coin exists at the intersection of impossibility and achievement. Measuring 235mm in diameter and weighing over 3.6 kilograms of the finest gold, its scale defies numismatic convention entirely. At its heart lies a one-kilogram gold coin with a face value of £10,000, legal tender surrounded by ten one-ounce coins bearing the official portraits of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and the Queen’s Virtues from the Victoria Memorial.
6,426 diamonds - each meeting the highest GIA certifications, have been set by master jewellers in patterns of extraordinary complexity. The reverse design honours three of Her Majesty’s most treasured tiaras, while the obverse presents the Union Jack rendered in gold and diamond.
Four Centuries of Royal Patronage
The Crown Coin represents the convergence of four centuries of royal patronage, unparalleled craftsmanship, and a vision so audacious that it may never be attempted again. This is the apotheosis of what becomes possible when artistry serves majesty.
The East India Company’s relationship with the Crown spans over four centuries. Queen Elizabeth I granted the original Royal Charter in 1600. King Charles II bestowed the extraordinary privilege of minting Company coinage in 1677. By 1835, King William IV had granted permission to bear the Monarch’s effigy-establishing precedents that echo through The Crown Coin today.
