A Khedive's Sudan Medal 1896-1908 with the clasp, The Atbara, awarded to Corporal George Moir of the 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, (4825 Corpl. G. Moir 1st Sea Highrs), engraved naming very fine (1)
George Moir lived in Aberdeen when he joined the Seaforth Highlanders on the 1st of January 1894, a Baker by trade. He served overseas in Malta, Crete and Egypt. His papers state he took part in the Nile Expedition of 1898, the Occupation of Crete 1897 and South Africa 1900-02. He was promoted to Sergeant on the 3rd of January 1900 and was finally discharged, time expired on the 19th of January 1906.
He is entitled to the Queen’s Sudan Medal, Queen’s South Africa Medal with the clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, King’s South Africa Medal and the Khedives Sudan Medal with the clasps The Atbara.
